Sacred Heart Preschool kicks off Piazza Series

On Wednesday, September 25, Sacred Heart Preschool director Austin Nikolich welcomed early childhood education experts from Bloom Counseling and Trailhouse to take part in the inaugural Piazza Series.

The SHP Piazza Series is a four-part series focused on pediatric mental health, child development, parenting, and early childhood education. Each session invites panelists who are experts in their fields to address parents and early childhood educators about how the developing brain and early experiences shape development of the whole child, as well as parenting and teaching strategies focused on the growing mental health crisis in young children. Inspired by the book, The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, the Piazza Series is intended to challenge all parents and educators to rethink how we nourish and support our young children.

The SHP Piazza Series--a nod to St. Angela’s counsel to engage with our communities with openness and joy, to “be like a piazza”--will continue in November. On November 13, SHP's Kim Tabler (Assistant Director of Programming) and Dr. Stephen K. Johnson (specialist in pediatrics and psychology) will discuss Parenting in a New Age. Parents and educators can sign up for the second Piazza Series session here: https://shp.shslou.org/apps/pages/piazza-series
