SHP COVID-19 Guidelines

UPDATE to Quarantine Procedures to Direct Contacts - December 7, 2020
  • The state of Kentucky has now adopted the new CDC guidelines requiring only 10 days of quarantine for individuals who have been identified as being exposed to Covid-19 and exhibit no symptoms.
  • Additionally, an exposed individual may only quarantine for seven days if they exhibit no symptoms AND have a negative Covid test taken on or after day five of their exposure.
  • The state is still recommending 14 days if the exposed individual will be around people that are considered high-risk.
July 24, 2020 Update

Sacred Heart Preschool has implemented changes in our program, classrooms, and routines, in order to comply with the Division of Regulated Child Care (DRCC) Emergency Regulations for the safe reopening of schools.  While these changes may be inconvenient, we are hoping they will be temporary, and we will be able to return to our normal programming one day soon.

The current regulations mandate that groups cannot combined in the afternoon. We are doing our best to comply with those regulations and still offer our afterschool care. To bring our children and faculty back to SHP in the safest way, we are implementing the following changes:

8:30 – 12:30: Half Day
12:30 – 2:30: School Day
*2:30 – 4:30: After School

Please note:

There will be NO EARLY MORNING (7:00am drop off)

AFTERSCHOOL will extend only to 4:30pm.

We understand the challenge that this may bring to our families.  However, this will allow our faculty to remain with their students for the duration of the day and eliminate the number of different staff who would be entering the classrooms in the afternoon.  If and when restrictions are lifted, we will re-evaluate and extend the afterschool program when it is safe to do so.  If you are enrolled in either of those programs, your contracts will be adjusted to reflect the changes.

August 11, 2020.

Carpool times: (as of 3/11/2021)

8:15-8:45am (morning drop-off)

12:15-12:30 pm (for Half Day students)

2:15-2:30 pm (for School Day students)

4:15-4:30 pm (for all extended day students)

Please see the attached map for the ROUTE and instructions.  Your child will be assigned a carpool number to display on your rearview mirror.  Children will need to arrive during the carpool times. If you miss the carpool, you will need to call the school 502-896-3941, and a staff member will come out to (receive or bring) your child as soon as we can. If your child needs to be picked up early for an appointment, they will need to be picked up at one of the earlier carpool times. Please notify Kim Washle via email so we have it in writing.  ALL contact information must be updated.

MEET and GREET:  You will receive a scheduled time and date August 5-7th to drop off your classroom supplies and meet your classroom teachers.  This is not our traditional method, but one that we feel will be the best way to meet you.  Your teachers will also connect virtually to welcome you to their classroom community.

2020-21 SHP COVID Addendum:

  • All classes will utilize a maximum group size of 10 students per group while adhering to the square footage per child for those spaces.
  • Children will remain with the same group of ten all day without being combined with another classroom.

  • Each child will be assigned a carpool number. Carpool routes and instructions will be communicated prior to the start of school.
  • Children will need to arrive during the carpool times. If you miss the carpool, you will need to call the school 502-896-3941, and a staff member will come out to (receive or bring) your child as soon as we can.

  • If you need to schedule an early pick-up outside of normal dismissal time, you must email Kim Washle kwashle@shslou.org to arrange this.

Screening and Illness:

  • Children and adults will be screened for fever and contagious symptoms upon entry.
  • If a child or adult tests positive for COVID we will follow the recommendations of the local Health Department on next steps and when to return to the program.
  • If your child becomes ill while at school, and/or develops a temperature of 100.4 or above the child will be removed from the classroom and the parent/guardian notified immediately. It is a STATE Regulation that the child MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CENTER WITHIN ONE HOUR.
  • In accordance with the KY Department of Education your child will need to remain home for 72 hours.

Although things will be different this school year, SHP is committed to providing a holistic education while keeping our children safe and healthy.  Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

July 13, 2020 Update

Below please find the current (as of July 13, 2020) overview of the health and safety measures Sacred Heart Preschool will be implementing for the safe reopening of school, addressing how we will protect our students, staff, families, and personnel from the spread of Covid-19.

In order to comply with the Division of Child Care (DCC) Emergency Regulations for the reopening of child care centers, we have had to reduce our enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year.  Sacred Heart Preschool was at full enrollment for the 2020-21 school year prior to these Emergency Regulations. The new maximum group size mandated by the State requires us to reduce our capacity by 40%.

We have reconfigured classrooms and set up temporary dividers in adherence with the new guidelines to safely provide placement for as many of our students as possible.

 Please note the following information:

  1. Carpool Times, Routes and instructions will be provided soon.
  2. Any Child who leaves SHP during the hours of operation may not return.
  3. SHP will take your child’s temperature and ask health screening questions before he/she is removed from the car.  If your child has a temp of 100.4 or higher, they will be sent back home and may not return until they are symptom or fever free for 24 hours (this policy will be strictly enforced)
  4. All SHP Staff will have their temperatures taken upon arrival, as well.
  5. Parents and visitors will NOT be allowed in the building.
  6. ALL faculty and staff will be wearing masks, unless outside on the playground engaged in activities. Teachers and staff at Angela Hall only, have the option to wear Face Shields and/or masks.
  7. Children will NOT be allowed to wear masks at school.
  8. All children will bring a nut-free, well balanced lunch in a container, bento box or bag. If you need a cold pack or utensils, please include and we will return daily. Lunch boxes will be stored in the child’s cubby, as they cannot be stored in a fridge to prevent touching.
  9. We will not reheat food.
  10. Illness:  if a child runs a fever of 100.4 or above, the parents/guardians will be notified and must pick the child up within ONE HOUR of being called.  This is a STATE REGULATION and it is important that your contact information is up to date.
  11. If you have a change in pickup person or time, please email Kim Washle kwashle@shslou.org to notify as we must have it in writing.
  12. Please make sure all clothing, lunch containers and water bottles are labeled.  We cannot maintain a “lost and found” at this time.
  13. Toys from home will not be allowed.
  14. A revised cleaning plan will be posted and displayed at the front entrances.

Teachers and staff will be implementing all health and safety protocol as directed by the DCC throughout the day.
